Did you know...
That God created the heavens and the earth, and He did this in six days?
This story is about the Creation, a story that's found at the beginning of the beginning of the Bible, in the Book of Genesis 1 and 2.
In the beginning, the earth was an empty, formless mass. Darkness was everywhere.
The first day -
On the first day, God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. He saw that it was good and He separated the light from the darkness. God called the light "day", and the darkness "night".

The second day -
On the second day, God said "Let there be space between the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
God made a space and separated the waters above from the waters below and He called the space "sky".
The third day -
On the third day, God said, "Let the waters beneath the sky be gathered into one place so dry ground may appear." And so it was. God called the dry ground "land" and the water "seas". Then God said "Let the land bring forth every sort of grass and seed-bearing plant, and trees bearing fruit. The seeds will then produce the kinds of plants and trees from which they came." And so it was and God saw that it was good.

The fourth day -
On the fourth day God let bright lights appear in the sky to separate day from night. God said they should be for signs and for seasons, for days and for years. Then God made two great lights. The greater light, the sun, to rule the day, and the lesser light, the moon, to rule the night. He also made stars and set them in the sky.
The fifth day -
On the fifth day, God let the waters bring forth swarms of fish and other life. He let the skies be filled with birds of every kind.
He blessed them saying "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the seas. Let the birds increase and fill the earth."

The sixth day -
On the sixth day, God let the earth bring forth creatures of all kinds, cattle and creeping things and beasts of the earth each able to produce more of its own kind. And God saw that it was good.
Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness." In the image of God, He created man and woman. The people will be masters over all life - the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals.
God blessed the man and woman and told them to multiply and fill the earth. God said to them, "Look! I have given you the seed-bearing plants throughout the earth and all the fruit trees for your food. I have given all the grasses and other green plants to the animals and birds for their food." Good looked over all He had made, and He saw that it was excellent in every way.

The heavens and the earth were finished and filled with life. On the seventh day, having finished His task, God rested. He blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, because it was the day when He rested from His work of creation.
