Did you know...
that after the Last Supper, Jesus went to a garden near the Mount of Olives?
This story is about Jesus praying in the Garden of Gethsemane.
After celebrating the Passover meal, Jesus went with His disciples to the Mount of Olives. At the bottom of the mountain is a very old olive orchard called the Garden of Gethsemane (Geth-sem-an-nee).
Jesus was sad because He knew that soon He would die on the cross. He said to His disciples, "All of you will desert me because God has said through the prophets, that He will kill the Shepherd, and all the sheep will scatter."

Peale õhtusööki läks Jeesus jüngritega linnast välja Õlimäele Ketsemani aeda palvetama.
Teel ütles Jeesus: "Sel ööl teie kõik pahandute minust.

Peter said to Him, "I will never desert you no matter what the others do!"
"Peter," Jesus said, "before the cock crows a second time tomorrow morning, you will deny me three times."
"No!" Peter insisted. "Not even if I have to die with you! I'll never deny you!" And all the other disciples vowed the same.
Peetrus ütles: "Kui kõik peaksid sinust pahanduma, siis mitte mina." Jeesus vastas: "Tõesti ma ütlen sulle, enne kui kukk on kaks korda laulnud, salgad sa minu ära kolm korda."
Jeesus then took His disciples Peter, James and John to the olive orchard to pray and told the others to, "Sit here while I go and pray."
His friends sat down in the garden while Jesus went a little way off to pray by Himself. He was becoming very distressed, asking His Heavenly father to help Him face what was about to happen. He said to His disciples: "Stay here and watch and pray with me."

See sündis kolm korda.

Jesus went on a little farther and fell to the ground and prayed that if it were possible the awful hour awaiting him might never come.
"Father, Father," He pleaded, "everything is possible for you. Take away this cup from me. Yet I want your will, not mine."
When Jesus went back, the three disciples were all fast asleep.
"Wake up," He said. "Couldn't you watch and pray with me for just one hour?"
When Jesus went again to pray and returned the second and third time, the three disciples had fallen asleep once more.

Then the temple guards sent out by the chief priests and other Jewish leaders came .with torches and swords looking for Jesus. Judas Iscariot, one of Jesus' disciples was with them. He had agreed to show the guards who Jesus was if they paid him 30 silver coins.
"The person I greet with a kiss on the cheek is Jesus," Judas told the soldiers. Peter, James and John were shocked when the high Priest's guards came to arrest Jesus. After the kiss, the guards seized Jesus and arrested Him.
Peter was so angry that he drew his sword and cut off the ear of the high Priest's servant.
"Put away your sword," said Jesus. "People who use swords will get killed by them."
Then He reached out and healed the servant's ear.

The guards now took Jesus away to be questioned by the high priest. All the other disciples deserted Jesus and ran off, but John and Peter followed Jesus but kept their distance.
Peter followed, right into the courtyard of the high priest and sat with the guards, warming himself by the fire.
The chief priests and Jewish leaders were looking for evidence against Jesus so that they could put Him to death, but they did not find any.
Many testified falsely against Him, but their statements did not agree.

Some claimed, "We heard Him say, "I will destroy this temple made with human hands and in three days will build another, not made with hands."
"Are you not going to answer?" The High Priest asked Jesus. But Jesus remained silent.
The high priest asked Jesus, "Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?" "I am", said Jesus. "And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven."

At hearing this the High Priest tore his clothes.
"Why do we need any more witnesses?" he asked. "You have heard this blasphemy. What do you think?"
They shouted, "Crucify Him! Crucify Him! Crucify Him!"
Some began to spit at Jesus.
They blindfolded Him, struck Him with their fists, and said, "Prophesy!"
And the guards took Him and beat Him.

While Peter was in the courtyard, one of the servant-girls of the high priest came by. She looked closely at Peter and said, ‘You were with Jesus.
Peter answered, "I don't know what you are talking about," he replied.
Another person saw Peter. "this man was with Jesus," he said. "I was not!" said Peter, "I don't even know Him!"

More people said, "You are one of Jesus' followers. you talk exactly like Him." "I tell you that I don't even know him," said Peter. Then he heard a rooster crow. Peter remember how Jesus had said, "Tonight, before the rooster crows, you will tell people that you don't even know me, three times!"

Peter went away and cried as he knew he had let Jesus down.
He was sorry he hadn't told everyone that Jesus was his friend.
